WATERLOCK COTTAGE, STOURMOUTH

THE BRIEF:

To extend the existing building to include for a large garden room, kitchen, porch, ground floor W.C., first floor master bedroom with ensuite and dressing area.

Proposed Oak Frame Extensions

Waterlock Cottage

This building is a beautiful house in the heart of the Kent countryside. It is built in oak frame and there is exposed oak work throughout the house.

The client was adamant on keeping the exposed oak work and, in being true to material, so the extension is a brick outer skin with oak internal skin. It has exposed jowl posts and frame internally, and the king post trusses and rafters are all exposed in the bedroom.

The single storey element to the building now completes the rear elevation. It's 40 degree pitch adds quirky details of low windows.
